Owner of Lisle hospice charged with health care fraud

A Lynwood man and former village clerk who was driving the wrong way when he caused a fatal collision on Route 394 in 2011 has pleaded guilty to DUI and been sentenced to prison. Roel N. Valle, 64, was the Lynwood village clerk when he was charged in March 2011 in connection with a crash that killed 32-year-old Melikah Little. Valle was charged with reckless homicide while operating a vehicle, and aggravted DUI causing death and aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. A Calumet Park woman accused of leaving her pit bull outside during the brutal cold spell in early January was charged Monday with animal cruelty after the dog died of hypothermia, authorities said. Tracy Cherry, 46, of the 1400 block of West 123rd Street, was charged with misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and failing owner’s duties, a statement from the Cook County Sheriff’s office said.
